Who I Am

A common theme in all my work is the development of emerging young talent, with a specific focus on those from diverse backgrounds, young people with learning differences and young adults who have suffered social injustice, such as homelessness.

The ethos behind my work is to empower these communities to produce theatre of a high quality, telling their stories authentically, in the hope that we can effect the hearts and minds of our audiences.

In working with Herts Inclusive Theatre for three and half years, both online and in the room, I've learnt so much from the young people with whom I've worked. I believe people with learning differences have a super power, often they are enormously creative, innovative and original.

As the Associate Director at Cardboard Citizens, working with those that have experienced homelessness, my role covered a number of areas: directing the hostel and prison tour of Rising, a Forum Theatre piece by Femi Keeling; leading on the curation and delivery of a programme of accredited skills based learning with participants, aged 16 to 25 and older…remarkable people who have suffered the trauma of homelessness; developing and managing a range of training workshops for voluntary sector and local authority clients.
